Every person has a spark – a thing that motivates them to get up each day, to pursue their goals, to live their life. However, what sparks an individual is unique. Thirteen individuals, with different backgrounds, influences, and styles have come together to explore what spark means to them.
Each member of our senior class was tasked to find their spark – either in a creative or personal manner — and display it for all to experience in a variety of ways. What spark meant to each student was vastly different, and yet, each spark was necessary to create this showcase. As different as each student’s style is, it is all unified by the strong foundations of design we have been taught through our time here at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi.

This thesis book highlights the development students experiences as designers in our program as well as broadened their understanding of what it means to be a designer in the world at large. Design is the vehicle used to present their interests, research, and overall findings. Students defined the complex intersection between personal voice, conceptual ideas and the use of research that works to create a compelling, finely crafted public communication on the theme, Spark. Students created original artwork that integrated type and imagery into a cohesive narrative.
