I am Emerald Rodriguez (she/her), a graphic designer and illustrator from Harlingen, TX. When given the chance, I love to work in my personality and favorite influences into my work. I bring fun and energy to everything I work on whether it be rebranding, a campaign for an existing brand, or creating a new brand from scratch.

Artist Statement
I am Emerald Rodriguez, a born and raised valley native.
I have a hard time communicating, especially when stressed. Not even taking into account the global pandemic, this last year of the graphic design program has been very stressful. While I don’t like to outwardly show my extreme emotions, I find it very fun and a bit therapeutic to slap those emotions onto my characters.
When talking with friends, I often find the easiest way I can express my emotions is in relatable quotes from my favorite videos and shows. I am not going to make it easy for you to find out what I’m feeling.
See No.
The initial dread and fear of things to come.
Hear No.
Trying to accept the stress alone not wanting to involve others.
Speak No.
Putting on an outwardly appearance of normalcy to mask any negative emotion.
When creating it, I started with paper and pencil sketches which were then moved into Clip Studio Paint in order to finish and properly compare and scale. For my color tests, I used Paint Tool Sai for its color mixing tools. The rest was made in Adobe Illustrator, the final lineart, coloring, and backgrounds.
I made this series to try and push myself out of my comfort zone and allow my emotions to be seen, even if in a roundabout way.
